Spike Jackson Design
Welcome to Spike Jackson Design, creators of beautiful, timeless gardens for period and contemporary homes. Our portfolio ranges from a formal parterre for a listed manor house through to the regeneration of a waterside habitat in a rural setting.
Inspired by nature, informed by the local vernacular, we aim to create a resonance between garden and architecture. By a careful analysis of the site and your lifestyle we will achieve an elegant solution in harmony with your home and in keeping with its setting. We specify sympathetic, natural materials wherever possible and place an emphasis on creating structure through appropriate planting.
As our many testimonials show, customer service is at the heart of our business. An initial consultation is free, so get in touch today, and take those first steps towards realising the garden you have always dreamt of!
Dear Spike......
We are absolutely thrilled with the new-look parterre and the other great improvements in the garden…. and we look forward to moving on to the next phases with you in due course.

The garden is fantastic………….the play equipment has been a roaring success and the boys love it and spend so much time on it - it has paid for itself really! … We are so thrilled with the transformation in the garden and have lived out there (weather permitting!) All our friends are wildly jealous (especially of the grass and the climbing frame). Thankyou so much for our wonderful garden - we would gladly recommend you to anyone!!
Amanda Banham, Saffron Walden
May I say…what a wonderful vision you had for this project. We are much more pleased than we expected, it gives us so much pleasure driving up to the house, and the eye is now led around the sweeping driveway through the grand entrance – just like you said it would! Thank you for convincing us about your excellent design (and all your patience during our deliberation!). Also many thanks for your management of the project which went very smoothly.

Spike Jackson uses his 30 years experience of all aspects of the landscaping industry to combine technical expertise and artistic flair to produce gardens that are built to last as well as beautiful. Spike received a firm grounding in landscape construction and plantsmanship from Merrist Wood Horticulture College, and went on to establish a very successful Design and Build business in central London. Since moving to the Cambridge area, his increasing interest in the ecological and planning aspects of garden-making has led him to diversify into providing a personalised design and consultancy service for the owners of larger properties.
Since 2005, Spike has been accredited as a Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers (MSGD) – one of a select band of less than 200 designers nationwide who have been judged by their peers as worthy of this designation. He has built up a close working relationship with a small number of reputable landscape contractors who implement his designs to the very high standard that he asks of them.
